Personal Style: Pinstripe Vest

I found this double breasted, pinstriped (cream/brown) denim vest with super cute buckles and ruffles at Goodwill. A whole bunch of things I love, but on a vest? I don't usually do vests. So I brought it home and tried it with this heather gray athletic craft shirt. It may not match, but I think it's pretty cute and it helps me keep my back straight... so there's a plus for my poor posture.

This picture makes me sad. I got all wild the other night and chopped 8 inches off my hair! (which really means about 6 inches, right?) So, now, no more fun buns and updos. I'll talk more about the cut in another post.

My two boys showing their fashion sense. Which is perplexing since they never wear these clothes... usually they prefer to wear the same four shirts all week long (Leggo Starwars and some cute monster shirts). Caleb is loving the beanie right now, even though it's crazy hot.

And, these outfit posts would not be possible without my David. So, here is a little outfit post from him.

Sweet Treats: A Mad Tea Party, 2011

Welcome to my Mad Tea Party! My party last year was so much fun, I had to host another.

My Valentines paper heart garland came out to visit. Along with a few old frames and shutters.

Little lemon muffins topped with chocolate frosting, polka dot sprinkles and maraschino cherries...
my 3 year old pilfered all but two of them.

Fancy that, a colorful bag of marshmallow stars, and a few clock gears
would serve as the cake's decoration.

Mr. Rabbit, who made his debut this year on the Easter mantel, is mighty jaunty in his WWII medal.

These roses were the perfect pinky shade of coral, with such large, open blooms.
I simply couldn't resist. If no one else will buy you flowers, I dare say, buy your own.

I hope your blog visit was sweet and that you stay a while and visit often.
If you held a tea party, please link your party in the comments. Let next year's preparations begin!

Personal Style: Pink Ruffles and Stripes

I wore two dresses and a shrug. That's right. A striped, short maxi dress to add some length to this adorable, pink, fluttery, ruffly, sleeveless sheath dress. The gray, ruched sleeved shrug helps tie in the peek a boo of gray 'hem'.

I kept my make-up very light and natural. I always have a hard time deciding what lip color to wear with pink, so I just did light lipgloss here for a subtle hint of shimmer. A low, side parted ponytail helped keep it casual.

Sweet Treats: A Mad Tea Party

This is a REPOST of last year's Mad Tea Party. A Fanciful Twist's Tea Party this year is on the 25th. I'm planning on doing it again, so we'll see if it happens. But for now, enjoy... and I hope you have one too!
***
I've followed the white rabbit to join in A Fanciful Twist's Mad Tea Party of 2010.
Please have a cup of marshmallow topped hot chocolate, and a
cherry topped confetti filled cupcake or two.

No matter if you are late to the party, there's plenty to see and join in next year! Dress up in your shabbiest rhinestones, grab a chunky, rusty key and join a magical party filled with sugary sparkles...

...then make a wish on your magical teapot... saying, "friendship warms the heart"...

...and feel yourself be whisked away to the little Wonderland party of sweets...

...where candied cherries are the sweetest you've ever tasted,

and only the the most magical of jellybeans makes it to the table.

Here's a little tiara for you to try on...

...or you can tuck a sweet pink rose in your wild hair.

Now who broke my clock? It doesn't matter, chocolate covered, sprinkled
pretzels makes all of those worries go away for now.

So, that is where that key went! What a lucky cupcake!

Marshmallows for tasting, or soft enough for throwing.

Sparkles everywhere you turn!
Which is your favorite, the candies, cakes... or the jewels?

Even the glittery pink cake had a fun time dressing up in some sparkly, vintage jewels.

Crystal chandelier prisms hung from the cake stand adds a whimsical touch.

Well, at least the teapot dressed in a rhinestone necklace for the party.

I wonder where the other rhinestone earring has gone?

Who needs earrings, when you can have crystal prisms!

Sweet peaches... for those needing a natural sugar treat.

Hold on to the key and it will take you back home.

Farewell, friends! I hope you had fun with the party!
I will update the grand list of parties to visit once they are all compiled.

But for now, it's time to be magically whisked back to reality and get some rest.
