I am sitting on the couch taking care of the baby, my 2 year old sitting next to me. Of course, he and our dog are playing a bit of tug o war, she's barking like mad and he's in a giggling frenzy.

All of a sudden, he starts screaming, I look over and bright red blood is everywhere! I put the baby down, thinking, "Oh my gosh, did he get bitten?" I rush him to the bathroom and search wildly for scratches, bite marks, anything...

He is amused by the blood in the mirror and starts to stare at in admiration and wonder, a little smile across his face. I realize this was just a very random and harmless nosebleed.

Interesting how something so small, can be so scary.

The Other Boleyn Girl

I just saw this movie (based off of the novel)last night with my sister, and even though I knew a bit of the history, it was such a depressing, but skillfully accomplished film. Scarlett Johansson played Mary, Natalie Portman played Anne, and Eric Bana played King Henry.

I know that it isn't totally historically accurate (my friend thought it totally fictional until the very end), but I am sure many of the emotional struggles that you don't see when reading history was spot on. This story has been bothering me all day. Are any of you like that, or can you just dismiss it shortly after you leave the theatre?

I just love love LOVE this article. I think I have a case of fur lung when I am cutting up fur on my puppets. I have been wanting to use glitter on my ACEO's lately... I wonder if I should wear a mask... maybe a dainty bandana would do?

And since we are being funny today, I absolutely MUST show my geekster side with 3 of my favorite Google videos, and link you to the most hilarious LOTR song, evar. I am a Lord of the Rings nut (have read them and the Silmarillion many times)... and my husband and I quiz each other daily on the movie quotes. It is a sad, sad fact, but it keeps the marriage fun (that and the fact that he slightly resembled Legolas when we first met, minus the tights, naturally.)

Cult Education Institute - 10 Signs of a Cult - I read this list as a Mormon and didn't see how what they said was dangerous. After years of heavy research and allowing myself to look at it with a discerning eye, it terrified me to see all the warning signs exist in this religion.

Blessing Day

Today was our baby's blessing day. It's not the same as a christening or baptism, as we wait till the age of 8 as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but the baby blessing serves to formally put the child's name in the records of the church. It is also like a father's blessing, totally inspired of blessings and promises of things to come in the childs life if they remain faithful.

His father gave him the blessing, as he did our first son, and it was beautiful. Some of the promises were that he would be "blessed with the sweet experiances of the Holy Ghost, that you may be able to walk in darkness having the light of the Lord one step in front of you." That means, that in times of hardship, that the Lord will be there guiding my son. This is just one of the beautiful promises said. My lovely aunt made his blessing outfit, complete with a little vest and tie!




On another note... my oldest did his first ACEO !! I think it interesting he chose the markers green and blue to color on a card with the word "Yellow", and an image of a mustaced man holding yellow ballons below a big yellow square.

He is such a true mixed media artist, perhaps he used these color combinations to speak about art and function? The yellow card... he added a blue marker, and the green marker to show what happens when blue and yellow are mixed? The man holding the balloons under a square, could be like withholding freedom in a boxed in world? I especially love how he put his whole heart, soul, and face in this piece. (Anything is better than his poopoo paintings... I will spare you the pics this time).
