Inspired Interiors: Charmaine's Lovely Living Room

Sadie and Stella features the gorgeous room of Charmaine's from My Best Friend Craig
The look is very clean, modern and designed, yet it is still comfortable and has a neutral enough background to easily be transformed when the fancy strikes.

This greek key mirror was a craigslist find!

The hallway, what a perfect place for a striped wall.

I'm loving the look of layered rugs, and what a neat table. I'm loving the built in bookcases, the touches of lucite, and those matching chairs.

On it's own, the fabric on this seat is dated and kind of hideous, but it is perfect when paired with a seamless brass table and eclectic elements. I love the simple touches of hot pink in this room. Be sure to read the interview and to see the shocking before photo!

Inspired Interiors: Justina's Jungalow

Probably one of my most favorite areas ever from Etsy's Get the Look interview. I have some natural toned wood that I keep thinking I need to paint, but I can appreciate it's natural state in that is DOES look good with mismatched pieces in a setting. So, I love figuring out that I am only semi-delusional in this regard.

Really though, the colors, patterns, ethnic prints. Adore it all. But the key is, mismatch doesn't work if it's only one or two pieces. Than it just looks like you can't match. No, you have to throw it to the wind. Keeping other elements natural and airy with a similar color scheme helps.  Also, I love the layering of rugs.

Check out the homeowner's Justina’s blog for even more incredible decorating ideas and to take the full Jungalow tour.

Inspired Interior: Bedazzled

I love browsing craigslist. I find real gems sometimes... In this case, I found a lot! I see potential, creativity and personality here, some really neat pieces of furniture too, great job, Sammy! I also see that someone got a little carried away with a bedazzler. I wonder if we know when we have gone too far? Sometimes, it's good to question that, I suppose. I would have loved to see the creativity here of the gems used in a large scale piece, like a large art piece or the entire screen wall or coffee table or a chandy dripping with jewels... as opposed to a little bit speckled everywhere. What do you think? Interestingly, I'm totally inspired now to take one huge item and just craft jewel the living heck out of it. I do have colorful ones for sale here, maybe I need to add clear ones to the mix? All this furniture, and accessories, with diamond trim (including a bedroom I didn't show), is available for $4,000.

Inspired Home: Table Tonic

I'm loving Louise's blog, Table Tonic right now. From her health food/juicing kick to her lovely home and online shop, there is a little bit of it all.

I love her colorful, clean simple lines approach to style.

And if I wasn't already married, I would want to marry this sofa.

Mustard. On a stool, one of my favorite colors. She even painted her front door this color. Adore.

I love how the acrylic barstools have a clean and uncluttered appeal. I could so use that. Wouldn't it be great to have a clear spray paint?!

More feather juju hat ideas and a tutorial on making one here via nester. Or purchase from Louise here.

Inspired Home: Eclectic Ingenuity

I'm kind of loving lonny mags' april/may eclectic ingenuity feature. It starts on page 69, and there are some amazing loft shots as well. I look at this 1960's home, styled by Colleen Locke, and I see an outfit.

Black and white striped shirt, olive long maxi skirt with some cognac sandals and belt, maybe with a big white hobo bag. And a long, draped, sterling antler necklace with a peach rose. Anyone else seeing this? Has anyone ever read the haunting short story, The Yellow Wallpaper? Yeah, that could be me swimming in those stripes.

Inspired home: Dark and Inviting

I'm drawn today to these images from interior designer, Abigail Ahern  book, A Girl's Guide to Decorating. There is a rustic, regal feel, with a cooling urban atmosphere in her home. (Her sister Gemma's home is a dark beauty too). The dark and neutral tones and textures feel so homey to me right now.

In her recent blog post, she talks about figuring out your decorating style. She says,

"I follow my heart and my subconscious and although hard to define its a funked up, idiosyncratic tour de force (can I say that about my style)? For some of us it can be over whelming its visual overload out there what with cool interiors stores, magazines, galleries, blogs, fab bars and so on. Pull back and try to analyse what appeals what pushes your buttons or makes you heart beat a little bit faster – tear out images from magazines, flag blog images you respond too and before long you will have a folio that begins to build a story of how you want your space to look. Its worth noting anything that shouts Ta Da when going through images as this is what turns a space from ordinary to extraordinary. It could be a super sized lamp on a tiny desk, a beautiful patterned rug skimming a floor oh and remember it takes time. A simple fact you can’t define your style if you haven’t invested time in knowing what’s out there its as simple as that."

Apartment therapy describes her book as, "Abigail Ahern's rooms are dark and seductive as photographed for her book, A Girl's Guide to Decorating. These rooms wrap you up like a cozy blanket when you're reading on the sofa late at night."
