So lovely. We saw this almost pure white moth resting outside our door. She was so courteous to stay poised long enough for me to run inside, grab my camera and snap a few pictures.
What a fashionita! Wearing a fur ruff gracefully about her on this fine, Spring day.
The last time I found a pure white moth, I was absolutely mystified. I was probably about 6 and held her all day, very gently stroking her pretty wings and soft body, singing her quiet little songs I made up for her.
Wow what a beauty - can't believe she stayed still long enough to pose for photos. Much more obedient than my toddler - I have more photos of his disappearing back than I care to think about!
ReplyDeleteWell done for resisting the urge to hold onto this moth and stroke her wings! :o)
I have never seen an all white moth before, she is quite beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDon't her wings look like feathers? BTW, I believe that's an ermine moth. The caterpillars of those things make nasty little webs that scare the heebie jeebies out of me. Yup, I'm full of useless facts.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen such a thing- amazing!
ReplyDeleteshe looks like royalty! Ive never seen a white moth before. thanks for sharing her.

What wonderful photographs! You made a moment that may have passed unnoticed, into a piece of art.
ReplyDeleteBugs/moths/etc.s scare me.
ReplyDeleteThis one does not.
I alternately want to pet it, paint its picture, protect it from my cats, and gawk at it. It's just so perfect.
Thanks for posting this!
Wow....that a truly breathtaking creature. Can you imagine looking that beautiful all the time!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is the prettiest moth, at first I thought it was fake. She's divine! Take care, Martha

ReplyDeletei have a picture of a pure white moth on me today onmy leg. she stayed with me while we were returning from grocery shopping. i think she was a messenger for me though as i have lost my mother 6 days ago. we took care of her in our home for 7 years, i am 41 and have lost both parents. i've heard of people seeing white butterflies after a loved ones passing, i wanted to know the same about this beautiful white moth. i found something that said "In superstition: A white moth is said to embody the soul of a loved one. White being the symbolic color of purity of the soul, and the embodiment comes from an ancient idea that the night (realm of the moth) is a dwelling place for souls (in terms of the Underworld or Otherworld)." if it was truly mom awesome momma, i will cherish this forever. the mourning process isn't what i thought it would be, we were so close..total years away from her, not all at once.. was about 7 years, the rest shes beeen in our lives that long. my 2 kids and husband were there in her room when she took her last breath, it was suddden, expected but not expected so immediately. this moth is so angelic looking. it's the very same one that was on my leg today, she wouldn't fly away :) we had to coax her to fly away so we could go inside the house.
