Earrings Giveaway!

I thought I would give you a glimpse into my life. I graduated high school in 1999. Moved away to go to college, hated it, went to the Paul Mitchell Academy of Hair Design instead, graduated in 2001, and I have been doing college off and on ever since. I decided to do beauty school, because my dad's health was very poor, and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish college before I would have to return home to take care of my mom, so I needed a back up plan. Sure enough, I was right, so having the license was a nice thing to fall back on.

While I was in beauty school, I did some crazy hair dos, got my eyebrows tattooed (a post on obtaining perfect eyebrows will come later), I was on the design team and got to design for some runway shows, and I even participated in photo shoots, one of which was even published. (Interestingly, I was chosen to participate in an elect study, where we were given extra education and entertainment, and I even got to take a metalsmith class at the Sundance resort with a group of amazing stylists!)

On the photo shoots, I cut/colored the hair that I designed, created the outfits/pose and did the make-up all myself! So, here is the deal. I am going to post a photo of my crazy hair days and 4 shots of my photo shoots. YOU guess which is the that was published. I will write down who is right and randomly draw the names out of a bag next week. Be sure to post contact info in your guess so I will know how to contact the winner. You will win this pair of vintage Indian charm earrings that are perfect for fall or a Christmas gift!! Read HERE for info on these earrings.

Also, I have taught classes on beauty tips such as skin care, make-up, hair care, dressing... and I thought I would start doing a weekly post on some tips. Please let me know what area you would like to see covered. Feel free to ask questions, even detailed ones and I will be sure to answer them.

Photo 1 (black and white with 2 models (yes, I am the platinum blonde with the extremely narrow eyebrows, I was not supposed to be in the shot, but coersed by some onlookers):

Photo 2 (male model with the blue black hair)

Photo 3 (twisted burgandy hair with warm copper highlights)

Photo 4 (shattered, choppy layers) Factoid. I created this cut. About a month later, a celebrity stylist came to our school to teach us this revolutionary new cut, that looked extremely similar to this one!

But my guess is #2. And don't you think that he looks like Edward from Twilight?

  7. LOVE the twisted burgundy hair!! I can't wear "normal" earrings, my lobes are stretched, but I had to chime in about the great hair styles!

  8. sugarskull for that hairstyle, it's a bunch of wax and spray! Then, I twisted hair around each other while waxing as well, and then I weaved strand together. Then (the important part) I flat iron each piece and allow it do cool down before moving on to the next piece. Then, spray it all again with a heavy holding spray.

(I used Paul Mitchell Wax and spray for the look).

Even if you don't do your full head of hair, just maybe adding a couple of twisted weaves can look really pretty.

  9. Photo #1 stands out to me - so that would be my guess!

  10. I say 2, for publishing, it would be the most professional of these. Nr 4 would be the 2nd guess, just because of the unusual cut, but I go for nr. 2 now!

  27. Bad me! You left a comment on my blog a long time ago. (Like April of 1952?)And I never popped over to say hi. So sorry! My house was overtaken by illness and I am just now getting back into the swing of things.

Yes, I wouldn't want to be hung or drawn and quatered, etc. either.

I just saw the nerdiest show on tv since the dawn of man (or since tv was invented) and it is a group of guys who make old time torture devices, gallows, gullotines, etc. and then they try them out on each other (without actually causing death, like a harness on the guy being hung)and then they slap each other on the back and talk about how awesome their device was and what it really would have felt like to be hung, etc.

It came on after a Houdini documentary and I was too involved in my crafting to actually turn the channel.

All I could think while watching this was 'You poor guys. You really need girlfriends.'

  28. I vote #2 ^-^
You look really great in these hairdos, I prefer the first one at the top of the post, with short red hair:)
Thanks a lot for the lovely message:)

  29. My guess would be #3 even though they all look great.

  30. This is a tough one! It all depends on what the person who published the photograph was looking for. Composition wise I would say Photo #1. I love the edgy look to you both but it is done is a soft and almost innocent manner. But if they were looking to publish your hair styles and designs, that it most likely was Photo #3 or #4. Those two photos show the unique techniques used to create those hair styles best. So, tell me, what was the publisher after, oh wait, right, this is a contest, you can't tell me, huh? LOL! Okay then I am going to go with my favorite photo which is #1, okay, that's my final choice! You are very talented, and as someone (me) who appreciate fine art photography, all of your photographs are very, very good!

  37. I have no clue, but I will say 2 because it reminds me of pictures I have seen in beauty shops. vidomich(at)yahoo(dot)com

  38. Number 4 is my pick. You'll have to tell us which one it was, since now we're all curious. :)
