Unintentional Pairings: White Warmth

I have been drawn to these images and I couldn't figure out why. But when I pulled them all together, it hit me. There is a common theme of a varied coral hues, spikey flowers, vintage charm, competing textures, natural themes and lots of casual muted white backgrounds. Almost a natural history type of flair, with a bit of eccentric fun thrown in.

It's amazing to see how fashion, flowers, treats, books and interior design can be combined to resemble one another in such an obscure and unintentional way.

Inspired Rooms: Jimmy Schönning

Swedish designer, Jimmy Schönning has truly captured my heart in his interior visions. He has styled spaces for publications such as vtwonen, elle decor, hus&hem and sköna hem.. I've had these images on file for a while now, but I suppose my little trip to ikea last night have brought them back to memory. So glad for that.

There is an abundance of my favorite things, clean lines, color, white, planks and industrial elements used in a comfortable atmosphere.

I would be a very happy lady indeed to occupy this romantically forlorn room.

Branching Out

branch montage fine art print ~ a wild goose chase

I'm not sure if it's the bare trees all around my yard, or the feeling of scaling down and wanting to declutter and destress, but these branchy pics I've had saved in my files for some times have really struck a cord today.

The Art of Removing

Katie Lee Joel's beautiful home, decorated by Nate Berkus is shown here styled two ways. The first, the chairs are upholstered in a chocolate brown so as to not distract from the bookshelf vignette. The built in bookshelves shine with color, blues, books and interesting arranging.

On the second style, the same exact room has chairs with a geometric pattern, that contrasts beautifully with the stark white items (and a few soft pastels) styled on the shelves.

I would love to know your preference. Do you change colors throughout the year (and not just because of holidays)... do you remove color and stuff for a clean and white palate and then add it back when you get bored? I do.

Inspired Rooms: Electric White

Isn't this Marmora Road Victorian home truly lovely? It's been featured pretty much everywhere, from Light locations, but still. Amazing how a home can be graceful, cozy and charming all at the same time.

The white plank floors and pale, dove gray walls with those gorgeous molding makes a simply sweet canvas. I love how there are unexpected pops of bright color in each room.

Scattered art in ornate frames, dark stained wood mixed with painted wood pieces, ornate frames and lighting mixed with clean simple lines, i feel like it's the best of both worlds here.

Not so Boring Whites

I just wanted to let the world know, that a room with a mixture of whites, blacks, grays and beige can still be warm, inviting and full of personality. Add a tiny pale splash of any color you wish (like the light blush pillows and throw above) for a touch of warmth and charm.  Need more color? With a white palate, it's easy to add colorful pieces anytime you wish, I like to rotate things out according to my mood and seasons.

Adorable Faux Cloud Rug and DecalTutorials

I only just discovered lifeflix, and am so happy I did. Go check out her blog, you will be happy you did. She is adorable and so are her projects. This faux cloud decal (with tutorial)  idea is great, and that fauxsheepskin cloud rug... I simply love. Just use no-sew on the cut edges afterward and you are good to go, full tutorial here. I have fur in several colors that I originally bought to make lots of puppets, but I've been lazy, red, turquoise, yellow, navy, pink... I wonder if I have some gray in there?

Inspired Rooms : Sadie Olive Master Bedroom Retreat

Sadie Olive, amazing photographer (prints and vintage items sold here) and an eye for the truly remarkable, has the most beautiful, and cozy bedroom. I love how natural, primitive and comforting the space feels. These are before and after shots of a mini make-over (complete with details), but both are beautiful.
