A Jaunty Antiquing Tour

After living here almost a year now, I can't believe it took me this long to find a nice antique shop, The Red Queens Attic. And not only that, but it's on a small town square with about 2 other antique shops a few doors down. It's not as epic as my favorite one in Fort Worth, but still nice. So, here are a few of my finds on this visit. I kind of love this creepy paper mache' rabbit mask.

Doll parts, baby shoes, an an antique baby scale in the back. Interesting, cute, creepy.

This room smells how it looks. Like fresh, white cotton and potpurri from a scented wax burner.

Hello, I so want this nifty carousel horse. It would be adorable under a vine covered garden arbor.

This was a fairly large statue, nestled in a room full of glorious aged vintage books, assorted by color. Love it.

I have never seen this artwork of Jesus and child before. But for $10, I can see it every day because I brought it home with me.

This vintage beaded dress was absolutely stunning. And that chair! (but not the grapes)

He is just so adorably mischievous. There is another painting of a girl in this series, but I didn't get a good pic.

A mostly white room. I liked how this dealer used mini tea stained playing cards as the item's tags.

I just love portraits and this one is precious. I wish I could bring her home.

I actually think the bust would look better minus 50 seashells, but who am I to comment on someone's art?

Stereoscope, 3d photograph viewer, with lots of neat images. My in-laws have one, and thus, my husband quite naturally loves them.
There was an entire section of military and naval antiques. Medals, uniforms, photographs and so on.

Well, I have many more images to share, but I'll reserve that for another time.
Do you have a good antiques shop near you? What are you usually drawn too?

Inspired Design: French Gray Interiors

 leafy168 blog (via)

Sipping a cafe au lait and eating a croissant in a small cafe with a single candle as table decor near the Champs Elysee or gazing out on Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower are quintessentially French.  If May in Paris is not in your future, you can still live a life inspired by French style and beauty in your own home.

We're in love with French Gray inspired interiors right now. The French have a way with gray that makes it feel romantic and chic, never dull or boring. French gray can range from dove gray to a blue gray and is almost always paired with warm, creamy white for a classic French feeling.

Here are some of our favorite French gray interiors we hope will inspire you too:

We adore the the French-like wingback accent chairs near the fireplace, as well as the matching floor lamps in this living room we spotted in Jessica LaGrange Interiors via Design Shuffle. The creamy gray walls balance the warm neutral furniture pieces, keeping the room feeling light and airy.

This monochrome gray kitchen is French Country chic gorgeous! We like the white and brown accents from the pottery.  The lighter cabinets keep things from feeling too dark or heavy.

Gray walls can go quite nicely with all neutral-tone furniture, just like in this casual living room. Check out the chandelier, candle holders, and wall art right above the accent table. All of these items looks like it came from a Parisian specialty store. So chic and unique!

The tufted headboard in this bedroom is so romantic.  Soft gray walls and crisp white and neutral tone linens create a soothing, calm environment perfect for sleep.

This room demonstrates all the key elements of a French Gray inspired room: soft gray walls, cream and warm wood furniture, a sparkly vintage style chandelier and vintage mirror. What makes it one of our favorites is the blue sideboard.  It's a nice spot of color. Don't be afraid to add accent colors in soft hues -- light pink, moss green, silvery blue, pale yellow all work well with gray.

Inspired Room: Cozy Elegance

I adore Maria's dining room from johns journal. Her design mix is everything from an Okinawa dumpster find in a contact paper covered tv stand turned wine rack, an owl picture from Goodwill, chairs form Ballard Designs and a table from Thailand.Such a beautiful mix. The mix of rich warm colors, mirrored details and the white and espresso, the lovely gray walls... works together perfectly. Really though, her entire home is well done, check it out here.

love fresh white hydrangeas in a simple vase
I always love a good bust.

Spray painted overstock chandelier.
The contact paper dumpster tv find, with a wine rack added inside.
Love the various candles and their glass and metallic holders. I'm sure it puts off a lovely glow.
