Homefront: A Balloony Birthday

I wanted Caleb to have a little surprise for his 5th birthday when he came home from school, so I made a balloon doorway for him. There were balloons laying around his room so he could play with them, before his brother came home from school. He really had such a blast!

He is so excited to be a 5 year old big boy!
I have my mom's cake decorating box from when we were kids, so we have a lot of vintage pieces there. These dinosaurs once graced a cake of my brother's when he was a wee kiddo.
Caleb has been asking for a monster truck for years now, and he has gotten lots of cheaper
remote control cars, but this was the real deal that he tested out when we went to Bass Pro Shops.

And of course, no party is complete without balloon popping belly fights! And no pants.

2013, Here We Come

2012 has been a year full of blessings and heartache. Pneumonia, having a totally adorable baby girl, my mom moving in with us, threatening suing our landlord/ us winning, moving, computer crashing and losing tons of family pics, youngest boy child entering preschool, returning to work after 6 years to an awesome salon, renewed energy in my jewelry designs, Auroa theater and Sandy Hook shootings, Jesse from My Mod Style giving me an awesome blog makeover, Obama winning again, leaving our lifelong, LDS/Mormon religion over REAL issues that most Mormons know very little or nothing about and seeing support from some family/friends and nasty claws come out from other family/friends over it... which I have to say is interesting that people will so quickly delete you simply because of a difference of faith... Now, we had our first *real* family photo shoot (by erin smith photography), just like I always wanted! 2012, you were a nasty you-know-what, but at least we got some good things out of you. Please be nice to us, 2013 as we continue our journey! But if not, we will roll with your punches and throw 'em back! Much love and peace to my lovely readers this year! And oh, my comp is STILL giving me major problems!  Visit me on pinterest to see what is inspiring me during bloggy dry spells :)

Baby Bit's Impromtu Photo Shoot

Miss 'Liss wore her first spot of lipstick today, at just a few days shy of 7 months old. So, this is what happens, when mommy is a hairstylist, a clown, has been surrounded by 6 little boys for the past several years, and is playing with her early Christmas present...

Then, once I turn around, she introduces herself, to well... herself. She has always loved getting dolled up and smiling at herself in the mirror! Ignoring my messy room would be so kind, I'm a mom, not a maid.

Yes, she has her first black eye... from trying to stand up and bonking her face on her crib.
Poor baby! Elisabeth kisses are the very best kisses.

May we all be just as happy when we look at ourselves in the mirror. I hope she never loses that.

Downtown Studio Salon

The Downtown Studio in Historic Downtown Rosenberg is pretty much one of the most gorgeous and swankiest salons out there, filled with interesting pieces of furniture in gorgeous glazes and finsihes. The salon is flanked by lovely boutiques, antique shops and a live theater is getting ready for it's grand opening in a few weeks. And this is where I work with an amazing team of stylists.
Front waiting room and reception area.
See this gold make-up dresser here? Yeah, it used to be mine here, and it got all glammed up. Just like the ladies who can sit in this area and get their make-up done and beautified right here in this front window.

The lounge are where bridal parties, couples or, anyone can go and relax between services.

 Couple's massage room

 And the couples jacuzzi room.

Our ad photo for Absolutely Brazos Magazine.

 All Halloweened out.
